Practise where your patients are.
Doctors in KwaMhlanga and neighbouring areas currently refer patients to hospitals more than 70 kilometres away, then lose sight of them. Spring Life is being built so that admitting, operating and following up happen in the same place you consult.
Continuity breaks at the referral.
A patient referred out of the region is admitted by a doctor who did not see them in consultation. The admission is managed by someone else, and the clinical decisions taken during it are taken by someone else.
The referring doctor is not part of the admission and is not part of the discharge. What happened in the ward comes back, if it comes back, second hand.
The patient carries the travel and the cost of getting to the hospital and back, and so does the family visiting them.

The Doctors’ Consortium.
Participating doctors and healthcare professionals hold a collective non-controlling interest in the operating company through Spring Life Doctors Consortium (Pty) Ltd.
The intent is to align clinical and commercial interests over the long term, so that the people who practise in the hospital have a stake in how it is run.
Participation is by invitation. It is subject to the consortium’s own agreements, and doctors considering it should take independent professional advice.
Participation is subject to the consortium’s constitutional documents. This page is information only and is not an offer of securities.
